David Austin Roses are celebrated for their exquisite, opulent blooms - an image of pure floral splendor. Your bouquet will soon embody this breathtaking beauty, though not quite from the very beginning.
Arriving in a deep sleep to preserve their grace, they simply await your gentle touch to awaken. With patience and care, they will unfurl into their full, resplendent glory, becoming yours to admire in all their magnificence.
When you unwrap your roses you will find them in closed bud, their petals elegantly tucked away. But do not worry, the best is yet to come. Lift them from the box as soon as possible to shake off their sleep, and in just a few days, they will bloom in radiant beauty.
- From closed bud to open bloom
- Fully open blooms
Waking your roses is effortlessly done and takes just a few simple steps:
- 1. Unpack your roses as soon as possible
- 2. Fill your vase with two quarts (two litres) of water.
- 3. Add two packets of flower food
- 4. Cut the stems at an angle, approx 1 inch off the base
- 5. Remove leaves below the water line
- 6. Place away from direct sunlight and watch them bloom
- 7. Top up roses with water regularly
- 8. Day 3, change water, re-snip stems and add final packet of flower food
If you notice any bruises or blemishes on any petals, try to let them be. Beneath their beauty, our roses hold a surprising strength. Any blemishes you see are simply marks of their delicate, translucent petals - part of their charm as nature intended. Outer petals may bear the signs of their journey, but they protect the bloom within and will soon fade as your rose unfurls.
To maximise the enjoyment of your blooms, here are some useful tips to follow which will enhance and help your bouquet to endure.
- To nurture your rose bouquet further, place it away from direct sunlight and not in spots that are especially hot or cold. A standard room temperature in moderate light is what will help them last longest.
- After their long sleep, they will be particularly thirsty so be sure to keep topping them up with water so they are not tempted to nod off once more. This will help with the longevity of your bouquet.
